Setup & This Week
3 min read · Updated 19 Jul 2026
Most SEO tools drop you into a wall of tabs. RankAgent splits the work into two modes: a finite Setup you complete once per site, and an ongoing This Week queue that never grows past six items.

Setup — done once, and it actually finishes
When you add a site, the page turns into a guided journey that walks five steps inline, reusing the real product screens:
- Profile — business type, location, goals (tailors every recommendation).
- Keywords — choose what you want to rank for.
- Audit — the full-site crawl runs.
- First fixes — your top three issues.
- Search Console — connect GSC for real rank data.
Each step ticks itself off from what you've actually done anywhere in the app — so work never gets counted twice, and the journey reflects reality. Optional steps have "Skip for now," and there's always an "I'll do this myself — exit the guide" escape hatch (your progress keeps tracking in the background) plus a "Mark setup complete — I know what I'm doing" button.

It's a one-way ratchet
Once setup is complete, the second tab switches from Setup to ✦ This Week and stays there. Older sites that were already crawled before this journey existed are never thrown back into a wizard. The one hard rule: a site that supports keywords can't finish setup with zero keywords set.
Express mode — agency (white-label) plans get a compact toggle that strips the teaching copy, so setting up the 8th client site takes about 90 seconds.
Plan
The Setup journey isn't plan-gated as a whole; which steps apply depends on your plan (e.g. the keyword and GSC steps only appear on plans that include them). Express mode is Founding/Growth/Agency.
This Week — the whole to-do list, capped at six
Once you're set up, the second tab becomes This Week: one bounded queue, composed fresh each week from everything RankAgent knows, so you never have to decide where to look. It pulls from:
- Your top open fixes (ordered by your "Your Style" priority)
- Conversations to join from social listening (one bundled item)
- Content due in the next 7 days, or a Search Console opportunity (a striking-distance keyword, a decaying page) when nothing's due
- The next few directory submissions (on link-building plans)
- Any remaining setup items
- One rotating recurring habit (publish, build a link) from your checklist
A regression or guardian alert — a score drop, a site-down — pins to the very top and doesn't count toward the six.

Plan
This Week is a paid feature. Free plans see a read-only 2-item preview so you can see what you'd be working on. Every item's "Do →" jumps straight to the right tab.
